Taskforce beta · Edition 2026-09-14
Beta guide & support
Start with one real task and the sources you choose. Connections and external AI are optional; use the supported features that fit your workflow. Keep this guide available from Settings → About, including while offline.
Install on your Mac
This cohort supports Apple Silicon Macs. Use Apple menu → About This Mac to check for an Apple M-series chip. macOS 13 or later is required. Intel, Windows and mobile builds are not provided for this cohort.
Open the supplied signed Taskforce DMG, drag Taskforce.app into Applications, eject the disk image and open Taskforce from Applications. Follow the onboarding; Continue locally is available without a Taskforce account. If macOS reports an unverified or damaged download, stop and contact support; do not disable Gatekeeper or run commands to bypass it.
Sign in or continue locally
Choose Sign in or create account in the app, enter your email in the browser, agree to the account terms and complete verification. Enter the emailed code to return to Taskforce. First-time email verification creates your account. Use the same email as on the Taskforce website. Only login providers configured for the build are displayed.
While waiting, Open browser again reopens the same sign-in request. Cancel sign-in leaves your workspace available. If a code expires, request a new one; requests are limited to once per minute. When the app reports that sign-in is being prepared, Continue locally remains available.
Under Settings → General, Profile & account shows your account, reconnect controls and browser account page. Signing out affects the local app session and preserves Actions and Focus. Signing out of the website affects only that browser session. Account and beta support are available at songch9511@gmail.com.
Your first five minutes
Create one Action for work you actually plan to do. Add a concrete Next action, such as ‘Write the first paragraph’. Press Option + Space to open the Task Bar, select the Action and start Focus when you are ready.
Before switching away, leave a short Last Stop and the next thing to do. Later, open the Task Bar again and resume that same Action. Complete it when finished; use Undo or Reopen when needed. Starting or finishing a timer does not by itself mean the work is completed.
If Option + Space conflicts with another app, choose a different shortcut in Settings → General. Command + Q quits Taskforce. Closing or hiding the Task Bar is different from quitting the app.
Optional AI and connections
External AI is optional and uses your own compatible tool/account with its own charges. Check the context before Handoff and enable an agent connection only when you understand the access shown. Returned checkpoints can update Last Stop; AI does not mark an Action completed for you.
Notion, GitHub, Slack and local-folder collection are experimental. Confirm selected sources, AI consent and source status; partial reads or reconnect requests can occur. Do not rely on these features as a complete list of your obligations. Gmail is paused. Calendar access is limited to approved Google test accounts and is local context only.
Save and restore a backup
Before an update, open Settings → Privacy → Save backup. Choose a password of at least 12 characters, confirm it and choose a location. Keep the password separately from the encrypted file. Neither Taskforce nor support can recover a lost password.
To restore, open Settings → Privacy → Choose backup, enter its password and choose the file. Review the preview before confirming replacement. A local recovery copy of the current workspace is retained. Restore pauses Focus and disables AI/source sync until you enable them again.
An older unencrypted export can be read with a warning, but its original file is not encrypted or removed automatically. Manage that file and any Time Machine copies yourself. Never email a backup file or password to support.
Update without losing your place
Read the new version's release notes and save an encrypted backup first. Quit Taskforce with Command + Q. Open the new DMG, replace Taskforce.app in Applications and launch it again. Verify your Actions, Last Stop and Next action before deleting your backup.
The workspace remains in ~/Library/Application Support/Taskforce. Development and earlier Swift workspaces are separate and are not imported automatically. There is no automatic updater. If an update cannot unlock the workspace, stop and contact support instead of deleting key files, reinstalling repeatedly or downgrading the database.
Disconnect or delete local data
Disconnecting a source stops access but keeps existing Actions and their history. To withdraw the provider's authorization grant, also use the provider's account settings.
To erase the local profile, open Settings → Privacy → Delete local data…, review the scope, type DELETE and select Delete data and restart. This is irreversible and creates no recovery copy. Export anything you need first.
Uninstalling Taskforce alone does not remove the workspace. Whole-profile deletion does not remove exported backups, Time Machine copies, original provider data, external AI history or MCP settings in other apps. Remove those separately if required.
Get help or report a problem
Email songch9511@gmail.com. Include Copy version details from Settings → About, your macOS version, what you expected, what happened and short reproduction steps using fictional task names. Mention whether the issue blocks installation, changes data or affects only an optional connection.
Do not include private task contents, credentials, full logs, screenshots of private work, database files or backup passwords. There is no automatic diagnostic upload. For a suspected data or security incident, stop the affected workflow, keep an encrypted backup if safe and email the same address with ‘Security’ in the subject.
Beta support is best effort. Feedback about the last real moment you resumed work is especially useful. Interviews and public testimonials are optional.
